This October Commonwealth Financial held their National Conference in Washington, DC. Christy and John took it by storm and were later joined by Matt. He delayed his trip so he stay in town and attend the All Saints Catholic School Auction. His wife, Jackie, is the auction chair and the auction made a record breaking amount of money this year!
The conference had a number of incredible speakers and presentations that were offered. The opportunities to give back were also in abundance and our office was eager to participate. In anticipation of November’s National Adoption Month, Comfort Cases partnered with Commonwealth and advisors and put together backpacks for children that are entering foster care. Christy and John also took part in the fun run that raises money for a number of causes such as Make-a-Wish and Edesia Nutrition, which helps treat malnutrition all over the world. An activity that took place during the entire conference was a mural paint by numbers, which upon completion was donated to Beacon House. This Washington DC organization offers local youth support in order to bridge the gap between the cycle of poverty and academic achievement. They have amazing results, with 90% of their seniors graduating and 93% of those seniors progressing to college or trade schools. Despite the government shutdown rearranging some of the events it was an amazing trip and wonderful experience. Our office is always grateful for opportunities like this as it offers a great chance for learning, connecting with new and old colleagues, and bringing back new perspectives to the office.
